Position Summary
Indiana University Northwest, one of nine campuses of Indiana University, is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and fairness-focused leader as Dean of the newly formed College of Business and Public Affairs. The campus, located in metropolitan Northwest Indiana, is approximately 30 miles southeast of Chicago and 10 miles from the Indiana Dunes National Park. The Dean of the College of Business and Public Affairs reports to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
The IU Northwest College of Business and Public Affairs houses the School of Business and Economics and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs and provides students a premier undergraduate and graduate education through its fully accredited programs in Business (AACSB) and Public Affairs (NASPAA). The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the college, providing visionary leadership and strategic direction. The Dean is responsible for overseeing academic programs, faculty affairs, budget management, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards across disciplines. The Dean in collaboration with faculty and other university leaders plays a critical part in advancing the campus's mission of academic excellence, innovation, student success, and community engagement.

Tenure-line with an Administrative assignment, tenurable in any of departments within Indiana University Northwest's College of Business and Public Affairs (School of Business and Economics and School of Public and Environmental Affairs).
Position Summary
The position is a twelve-month appointment that will include a tenured faculty appointment in one of the academic programs offered in the College.
Management: Supervise and provide leadership for the faculty and exempt and non-exempt staff in the College of Business and Public Affairs. Utilize continuous improvement strategies to ensure operational excellence. Manage a budget of approximately $4 million, advocating for resources to support faculty, staff and programmatic needs.
Accreditation: Support accreditation efforts of each unit by keeping abreast of changing standards as well as facilitating the development of relevant programs and curricula that meet standards.
Leadership: In concert with faculty, develop a clear mission, vision, and strategy for the newly formed College, emphasizing the campus and university commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, research with undergraduate students, and programmatic assessment to ensure continuous quality improvement. Represent the College to external stakeholders including alumni, donors, community partners, and accrediting bodies.
Faculty and Staff Development: Utilize strategies that strengthen faculty and staff development and performance. Build upon an environment of participation, fairness, and stability, among faculty, staff, and students.
Student Success: Develop strategies in collaboration with other units across campus to support the recruitment, retention, persistence and graduation of students in each undergraduate and graduate program.
Curriculum and Academics: Supervise curriculum development, program evaluations, and the implementation of academic policies; ensure curricula and program portfolio aligns with regional needs and strategic priorities of the institution. Continue to advance and elevate the quality of teaching by implementing best practices, fostering faculty mentoring and development, and promoting continuous quality improvement, emphasizing curricula that is current, relevant, and prepares students for success in their chosen field. Work with deans from other regional campuses to develop and sustain collaborative academic programs.
Teamwork: Foster the development of positive and productive relationships within the college; work effectively with the other academic Deans, the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and other leaders across campus, leaders from all campuses of Indiana University; and partner with external constituencies to ensure the success of our students and academic programs.
Fund raising: Seek alternative forms of financial support such as external grants and other funding opportunities in concert with the Office of Sponsored Research, Office of Development and the Chancellor

Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

• Terminal degree in a discipline finding its home in Indiana University Northwest's College of Business and Public Affairs with credentials meriting appointment at the rank of full professor.
• Progressively responsible academic administrative experience.
• Demonstrated collaborative leadership, committed to supporting multiple perspectives in curricula, in student services, and in personnel and leadership decisions across the college, school, and department.
• Strong evidence of managerial experience directly supervising faculty/staff, developing an effective team, and fostering a culture of collegiality with a management style built on respect, communication, collaboration, and fairness.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and research.
• A reputation for integrity, transparency, accountability, and enthusiasm.
• Experience with accreditation in the disciplines found in the College of Business and Public Affairs.

• Demonstrated knowledge of the opportunities and challenges facing higher education today
• A leadership style that is adaptable, collaborative, and decisive, and that can influence the community (internal and external) to identify, address, and overcome challenges.
• Financial acumen and proven abilities in budgetary and financial management.
• Interpersonal skills that enable effective relationships with all stakeholders, including other University leaders, alumni, advisory boards, professional officials, and leaders in the industries represented in the College of Business and Public Affairs.
