Job description


SUMMARY 

The Tumble Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment on the Wet Side, Dry Side, and Packing areas of the tumble process. Key duties include loading and unloading parts, checking surface finish and magnetism, ensuring proper labeling and documentation, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. Operators must coordinate between stations, use tools like RA testers, gauss readers, and cranes, and follow production guidelines in the PLEX system. Attention to detail, teamwork, adaptability, and physical stamina are essential for success in this role. 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

The ability to perform at least one station (Wet Side, Dry Side, Pack at Tumble) 

Wet Side Essential Functions 

  • Use RA tester to check the surface finish and ensure the Ford washers are in spec. 
  • Load parts into bowl vibes, rotaries, and box vibes while ensuring the machines have proper rocks, soap, and plex tag identification
  • Unload parts from bowl vibes, rotaries, and box vibes ensuring machines are properly cleaned out and proper identification is sent with the parts
  • Clean up rocks and/or parts that end up on floor
  • Operate the separator
  • Operate wet side crane
  • Fill out production paperwork and UM paperwork when necessary
  • Change out rocks when necessary
  • Run according to plex with quality of the parts helping guide decision making
  • Clean up area (standard 5S) at end of shift
  • Coordinate with the cob operator to make sure parts can get into dry side in a timely manner
  • All other responsibilities as assigned

Dry Side Essential Functions 

  • Use gauss reader to check magnetism
  • Load parts into the bowl vibe cobbers and mixers that are coming from the wet side of the room or from the storage lane and make sure the parts are properly labeled
  • Unload the mixers using the shaker table and make sure parts are properly labeled 
  • Unload the bowl vibe cobbers into proper containers
  • Add the proper oil and amount to parts that require it according to plex 
  • Fill out production paperwork
  • Change out cob in machines as needed
  • Use sifter when cob is reusable and dispose of cob when it is not
  • Clean up area (standard 5S) at end of shift
  • Coordinate with the wet side operator to coordinate when parts will be ready for cob to ensure parts can get into dry side in a timely manner
  • All other responsibilities as assigned

 Pack at Tumble Essential Functions 

  • Pack parts into totes to the correct quantities according to plex and if not specified to a max of 35lbs
  • Put specific bags into totes unless special directions specified in plex
  • Be able to utilize plex to find information specific to the part being packed
  • Make sure to pull out rocks or mixed parts, and/or properly contain suspect parts
  • Be able to set scale properly to each specific part being packed to get accurate numbers per each tote
  • Clean up area (standard 5S) at end of shift
  • All other responsibilities as assigned

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Overhead crane experience preferred
