Position Summary:
We are seeking a transaction tax professional to join our fast-paced, collaborative tax department. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and intellectually curious, with strong critical thinking skills and a willingness to learn. This role requires the ability to work independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team environment.
Our team leverages proactive processes and innovative technology to manage a high volume of complex indirect tax filings. A growth mindset and comfort with change and automation are essential.
The Tax Analyst is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly transactional tax returns, including sales and use tax and beverage tax. This role supports a high-volume, multi-jurisdictional compliance environment and participates in audit support, account reconciliations, transaction reviews, tax research, process improvements, tax notice resolution, and other special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file sales and use and beverage tax filings
- Prepare payment requests and ensure timely filing of all assigned returns
- Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare other non-income tax filings such as egg & dairy reports, unclaimed property reports, business license applications and renewals, and sales tax registrations
- Review new inventory items to ensure proper taxability
- Support state and local audits through data gathering, analysis, and implementation of audit findings
- Research and interpret transactional tax laws and monitor legislative changes
- Keep current on tax legislation and rate changes
- Respond timely and appropriately to tax notices and resolve discrepancies
- Partner cross functionally with various business personnel and business units to understand business transactions and ensure accurate reporting
- Maintain SOX compliant documentation
- Collaborate with Finance leadership, including segment CFOs, and accounting teams across operating companies
- Support implementation and maintenance of tax software applications and processes to ensure accurate collection and reporting

Required Qualifications
• A four-year degree required (Accounting, preferred)
• 2+ years of transactional tax or accounting experience preferred
• Exposure to tax automation tools or data analytics platforms preferred
• Demonstrated analytical and computer skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
• Experience with Vertex Tax Compliance software and/or SAP is a plus
