SAP Vertex Consultant

Location: Austin, TX (Onsite from Day 1) 

Mandatory Requirements
• Candidate must be willing to work onsite in Austin, TX.
• Candidate should be available to join and work from the office from Day 1.
• Candidate must provide 4-5 interview availability slots for the upcoming week.

• Candidate must have SAP Finance experience in addition to Vertex expertise.
• Profiles with Vertex experience and only SAP SD background will not be considered.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Vertex Consultant with a strong background in SAP Finance (FI) and Vertex Tax Engine. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and supporting Vertex tax solutions integrated with SAP environments. This role requires expertise in tax determination processes, Vertex configuration, SAP Finance, and end-to-end SAP implementation projects.
The consultant will work closely with business, finance, tax, and technical teams to ensure accurate tax calculations, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration between SAP and Vertex solutions.

Responsibilities
• Lead the implementation, configuration, and support of Vertex Tax Engine integrated with SAP environments.
• Analyze business and tax requirements and provide scalable SAP Vertex solutions.
• Configure Vertex tax determination processes and related integration settings within SAP.
• Collaborate with Finance, Tax, and IT stakeholders to ensure accurate tax calculations and compliance with business requirements.
• Support end-to-end SAP implementation projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
• Conduct impact analysis and recommend solutions for tax-related business needs.
• Troubleshoot Vertex and SAP integration issues and coordinate with technical teams for resolution.
• Support functional and integration testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and production deployments.
• Document business processes, functional specifications, configuration settings, and test scenarios.
• Work effectively within onsite-offshore delivery models and collaborate with cross-functional global teams.
• Provide guidance on tax processes, compliance requirements, and best practices related to SAP Vertex implementations.
• Support change management and knowledge transfer activities as needed.
• Ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of professional SAP consulting experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Vertex Tax Engine and SAP integration.
• Extensive experience in SAP Finance (FI). SAP Finance background is mandatory.
• Deep understanding of taxation processes and tax calculation methodologies.
• Experience configuring Vertex tax solutions and supporting tax compliance requirements.
• Strong knowledge of SAP implementation methodologies and SDLC processes.
• Experience working in onsite-offshore delivery models.
• Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into functional solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience managing stakeholder expectations and delivering business-focused solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
• SAP Certification (preferred).
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance.
• Basic ABAP debugging knowledge.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise SAP implementations.
• Prior experience with tax transformation or indirect tax projects.
