The Cloud Architect plays a critical role in defining security controls and developing security solutions to protect Verizon. We are looking for an experienced Cloud Architect that will help grow our cloud capabilities by strategizing, defining, architecting, and leading modern cloud solutions. This individual will be a tenacious thought leader able to scope projects, ensure delivery, and establish and maintain strong relationships with all the stakeholders

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Cloud Security Architect to join our Cloud Security Architecture team. This individual will play a strategic and technical leadership role in designing and implementing cloud-native security solutions to safeguard Verizon's cloud infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking security expert with a deep understanding of Azure cloud architecture, compliance frameworks, and secure cloud solution development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and design secure cloud environments, focusing on Microsoft Azure
  • Define and implement security policies, controls, and frameworks for cloud workloads
  • Lead cloud security initiatives across engineering, architecture, and infrastructure teams
  • Provide guidance on IAM, encryption, network security, threat protection, and compliance
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and DevSecOps teams to ensure cloud security alignment
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies to improve cloud security posture
  • Participate in risk assessments, security reviews, and incident response efforts

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in cloud security architecture (ideally within large enterprise environments)
  • Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure security services (Azure Defender, Security Center, Sentinel, Key Vault, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, DevSecOps, and zero-trust models
  • Experience with compliance standards like NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, and SOC2
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM, etc.)
