POSITION OVERVIEW

CakeBoxx Technologies designs and manufactures patented two-piece deck-and-lid intermodal containers, deployable platforms, and containerized Systems Within SystemsTM solutions for defense, aerospace, energy, and high-technology customers. These systems operate in demanding environments where structural integrity, weatherproofing, and integrated subsystem performance are critical.

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that every container, platform, and integrated system meets defined quality, functionality, and conformance to applicable military and industry standards. This position works closely with CakeBoxx's Engineering team — including the engineers assigned to each build — to verify that welding, materials, dimensional features (including hole sizes, hole locations, and tolerances), and overall construction conform to engineering drawings and specifications before products are tested, accepted, and shipped.

This position works closely with CakeBoxx's Program Management Office (PMO) to ensure each build is completed on time and to quality standards, and works closely with the on-the-ground CakeBoxx engineer at the manufacturing partner's facility to ensure all products are completed with quality. When a third-party inspector identifies a defect or anomaly, this role partners with the on-the-ground engineer to drive corrective actions through to full completion.

This is a hands-on role requiring regular travel to our manufacturing partner's facility, strong technical judgment, and the ability to lead quality-related activities across the full product lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manufacturing Partner Oversight

• Ensure that all products built by our manufacturing partner conform to engineering drawings, specifications, and functional requirements

• Provide quality oversight and support at the manufacturing partner's facility, including inspection oversight, defect identification, and issue resolution

• Verify that welding, materials, fastener hardware, and dimensional features — including hole sizes, hole locations, and tolerances — conform to engineering drawings and specifications during in-process and final inspection

• Review material certifications (mill certs / material test reports) for traceability and conformance to specified grades and standards

• Verify as-built configuration against the released Bill of Materials (BOM) and Technical Data Package (TDP); flag undocumented deviations for Engineering Change Request (ECR) review

• Audit and verify the manufacturing partner's calibration program for inspection, measuring, and test equipment (gauges, calipers, micrometers, CMM)

Product Verification and Testing

• Develop and execute test procedures, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria to verify product functionality and performance

• Perform and oversee functional testing, system-level testing, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

• Verify functional integration of onboard subsystems — electrical, HVAC, and hydraulic/pneumatic actuation — across CakeBoxx's Systems Within SystemsTM platforms

• Verify structural and dimensional conformance to specification for container and platform components, including corner castings/fittings, lifting points, and stacking interfaces

• Inspect coating and corrosion protection (surface preparation, dry film thickness) for conformance to specification

• Conduct watertight and weatherproof seal inspection on doors, hatches, and access points

• Ensure all products meet engineering requirements, specifications, and operational performance expectations prior to shipment

• Analyze test and inspection data to identify failure modes and drive corrective actions

• Support field issue investigations and confirm effectiveness of corrective actions through re-testing and verification

• Monitor weld quality and inspection for conformance to applicable AWS standards (e.g., D1.1, D14.3), coordinating destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) as required, including at manufacturing partner sites
