Position Description

DaVita's Principal Solutions Architects are responsible for defining the architecture of IT solutions. This role serves as a senior technical leader who translates business needs into secure, scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective solution designs. Principal Solutions Architects partner across Enterprise Architecture, Product, Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Data, and Operations teams to evaluate build-versus-buy options, shape solution direction, reduce technology redundancy, and guide delivery teams toward successful implementation.

This role is intended for an architect with deep pre-existing expertise in one or more of these strategic enterprise platforms: Microsoft 365, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Epic Systems. The successful candidate will use this platform expertise to accelerate solution design, strengthen governance, improve integration patterns, and help DaVita make durable technology decisions aligned to enterprise standards and business value.

Essential Dutiesand Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Define solution architecture for complex enterprise initiatives, including packaged applications, SaaS platforms, custom applications, integrations, cloud services, data flows, identity, security, and operational support models.
  • Serve as a platform architecture expert for Microsoft 365, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and/or Epic Systems helping teams apply platform capabilities appropriately while avoiding unnecessary customization, duplication, or long-term support burden.
  • Identify practical AI opportunities across solution architecture, including where generative AI, automation, intelligent search, knowledge management, decision support, or agentic workflows could improve teammate productivity, experience, quality, or operational efficiency.
  • Partner with business, product, engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, privacy, legal, and operations stakeholders to translate business objectives into clear solution recommendations, estimates, and implementation guidance.
  • Lead architecture assessments and design reviews that evaluate solution fit, scalability, resiliency, complexity, cost, and alignment with enterprise standards and roadmaps.
  • Develop architecture blueprints, system context diagrams, deployment views, integration patterns, and executive-ready solution summaries that support informed investment and governance decisions.
  • Guide build-vs-buy evaluations for SaaS, packaged, and custom-built solutions, including assessment of vendor capabilities, platform overlap, implementation complexity, extensibility, support model, and total cost of ownership.
  • Drive modernization by promoting composable architectures, reusable integration patterns, identity and access standards, cloud-ready designs, and responsible use of AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to ensure solution designs align with target architecture, technology standards, portfolio direction, security expectations, and broader modernization goals.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to architects, engineers, product teams, and delivery partners, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and adherence to architecture principles.
  • Identify technical risks, architectural tradeoffs, dependencies, and assumptions early in the project lifecycle and communicate them clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle by clarifying architecture intent, assisting with design decisions, reviewing implementation approaches, and helping resolve architecture-related issues.
  • Stay current with emerging platform capabilities, vendor roadmaps, healthcare technology trends, cybersecurity expectations, and architecture best practices to continuously improve DaVita's solution architecture capability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Deep architecture experience with at least one strategic enterprise platform: Microsoft 365, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and/or Epic Systems.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, solution design patterns, integration architecture, identity and access management, data protection, security-by-design, and operational support considerations.
  • Experience evaluating SaaS and packaged applications, including platform capabilities, configuration versus customization tradeoffs, integration approaches, vendor fit, and long-term maintainability.
  • Working knowledge of cloud-native architecture concepts and modern delivery practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, resiliency, and scalable application design.
  • Experience establishing reusable AI solution patterns and reference architectures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance strategic direction, business value, delivery practicality, user experience, security, compliance, and cost.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to collaborate with executives, business leaders, product owners, engineers, cybersecurity, infrastructure, vendors, and support teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technical teammates, lead design discussions, facilitate alignment across groups, and promote consistent architecture practices.
  • Familiarity with healthcare technology, regulated environments, privacy, compliance, PHI/PII handling, HIPAA considerations, and secure integration patterns is preferred.
