Summary:

This role will support automotive reliability engineering test and development activities. Reliability Test Engineers are responsible for validating the vehicle , systems (Body, Chassis, Closures), and sub-systems to meet strength and durability targets with a goal of meeting or exceeding customer expectations. When performance concerns arise during validation testing, you will be responsible for developing appropriate countermeasure plans and work closely with cross-functional departments for implementation of plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the engineering test activities by applying engineering principles, experiences, and various analysis tools in following established test plans/procedures to test parts/components in area of specialty to determine design feasibility and ensure parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets and any applicable regulatory/internal standards.
  • Depending on functional area, must perform objective and subjective testing by driving.
  • Utilize data acquisition tools to collect data, analyze and report results.
  • Conduct vehicle benchmarking for the purpose of target setting.
  • Support vehicle tuning and instrument vehicles for objective tests.
  • Analyze and resolve problems with moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Negotiate with other departments internally and suppliers externally to meet the spec requirements.
  • Coordinate with design and CAE teams to report results and develop countermeasures.
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology.
  • Travel to client / test sites required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2+ years relevant industry experience.
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 yrs experience using Data Acquisition tools.
  • Formula SAE (FSAE), BAJA SAE, EcoCar, Mini BAJA SAE, experience
  • Hands on experience with wrenching and vehicle instrumentation
  • Experience using 3D design tools (CATIA V5/V6) for basic fixture design and layout reviews
  • Test track / driving experience required for test driving.
