Job Title: Reconditioning Manager
Location: Joe Basil Chevrolet - 5111 Transit Rd. Depew, NY 14043
Joe Basil Chevrolet is seeking a motivated and experienced Reconditioning Manager to oversee the complete reconditioning process for our used vehicle inventory. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with operational leadership, ensuring that all vehicles meet dealership standards for quality, safety, and retail readiness.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, coordinating, and performing reconditioning work while managing workflow, vendors, and technicians to ensure vehicles move efficiently from acquisition to the sales lot.
What you'll do:
• Manage the used vehicle reconditioning process
• Schedule and prioritize work between internal technicians and outside vendors
• Perform inspections and diagnostics on incoming used vehicles
• Complete or assist with mechanical repairs including brakes, suspension, electrical, and general maintenance
• Determine reconditioning needs and prioritize repairs
• Create and approve repair estimates for used vehicles
• Coordinate with sales managers, service advisors, and detail departments
• Track reconditioning progress and report status updates
• Supervise and support reconditioning technicians or detail staff
• Train team members on inspection and repair standards
• Ensure all vehicles meet dealership and safety standards before retail sale
• Conduct final quality checks before vehicles are placed on the lot
• Help develop processes that improve efficiency and vehicle quality
Requirements
What we're looking for:
• 5 + years automotive repair or reconditioning experience
• Previous dealership used vehicle reconditioning experience preferred
• Experience managing workflow, technicians, or shop operations
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills
• Ability to balance hands-on work with leadership responsibilities
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Experience with dealership management systems preferred
