Position Overview

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) seeking Project Manager for short term role to oversee various IT projects. The PMs will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, cost estimates, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.

• Project Execution: Coordinate internal and external resources, manage project teams, and ensure project milestones and deliverables are met according to the project plan.

• Stakeholder Management: Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals. 

• Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to ensure project outputs meet required standards and stakeholder expectations. 

• Project Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of all project activities, decisions, and changes. 

• Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize potential negative impacts.

Qualifications and Skills 

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. 

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably within the IT sector. 

• Certification: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is required. Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) PM certification is a plus. 

• Skills: 

o Strong leadership and organizational skills. 

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

o Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum). 

o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
