What we want

The Marketing & Communications Manager develops and supervises marketing and communications strategies for Texas A&M University Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine (VCOM). Oversees the implementation of goals, strategies, and plans to execute comprehensive internal and external marketing and communications efforts to promote the research, education, and basic science efforts of the Vashisht College of Medicine. This role ensures brand consistency by creating, curating, and distributing written and visual content, collaborating with internal teams and media partners, and overseeing communication efforts that support recruiting and engagement goals. Additionally, the manager supervises marketing staff and student workers, maintains brand guidelines, coordinates project execution, and ensures all content aligns with Texas A&M's standards and VCOM strategic messaging.

Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 annually

Location/Schedule:Bryan, TX - Full-Time - In-Person; This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Five years of marketing and/or communications experience, including some supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university

  • Experience with Texas A&M University/System or other higher education entity

  • Professional experience in a combination of marketing/communications, media relations, multimedia/graphics design, or digital marketing

  • Experience with project management

  • Supervisory experience and leading cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

Project Management, Coordination, and Leadership

  • Coordinates and optimizes systems, tools, and project racking processes to ensure efficient workflow management, timely completion of deliverables, and transparent progress reporting across all communications
    and marketing initiatives

  • Works with internal and external stakeholders by providing strategic communication guidance, gathering project needs, ensuring expectations are met, and serving as a primary point of contact to deliver high-quality communication and marketing support

  • Lead or coordinate cross-unit communication initiatives, campaigns, and events

  • Partner with recruiting teams to align messaging for outreach and enrollment initiatives

  • Coordinate printing and other vendor services as needed

  • Serve as lead for unit operations in the absence of the Director of Marketing & Communications as needed

  • Manage tracking of key performance indicators for communication and marketing outcomes

  • Manage staff, including communication specialists, student workers, or other assigned personnel

  • Assign tasks, set priorities, evaluate performance, and support professional development for the team

Communications and Content Strategy

  • Works with the director of marketing and communications to develop content calendars and strategic plans for marketing and communications

  • Communicates priorities and impacts for internal and external constituents, stakeholders, students, alumni, faculty, and staff

  • Generate internal and external communications aligned with VCOM priorities. Develops, edits, and produces written content such as stories, press releases, newsletters, advisories, speeches, presentations, and talking points

  • Create and tailor content to specific channels (web, social media, video, marketing materials)

  • Identify and craft storytelling opportunities highlighting VCOM programs, research, student impact, and clinical excellence

  • Monitor peer institutions and healthcare landscape to position VCOM in relevant conversations

  • Define and elevate stories that reinforce VCOM's brand and strengthen statewide, national, and global awareness

Marketing, Branding & Creative Oversight

  • Oversee creation of graphics, digital ads, print materials, recruitment materials, and promotional assets for multiple audiences

  • Maintain and enforce college-level brand standards consistent with Texas A&M University guidelines; ensure consistent voice and tone

  • Collaborate with vendors, including photographers, videographers, and media teams, to develop integrated storytelling assets, including print, web, video, and advertising

  • Ensure content meets university and brand standards

Media Relations

  • Work with Texas A&M University and Texas A&M Health central news team to review, approve, and push institution-aligned messaging

  • Identify key VCOM faculty and staff to promote and respond to media inquiries

  • Other duties as assigned
