What is a VAS manager?

A Vas Manager, or Value-Added Services Manager, is responsible for overseeing and managing value-added services in telecommunications or related industries. These services go beyond standard voice calls and messaging, including offerings like mobile internet, entertainment, mobile payments, and other subscriber enhancements. The Vas Manager works to develop, implement, and optimize these services to increase revenue and improve customer satisfaction. They often collaborate with technical, marketing, and product teams to launch new features and ensure high-quality service delivery.

What are the main challenges a VAS manager faces when coordinating with multiple service providers and technical teams?

A VAS (Value-Added Services) Manager often navigates the complexity of integrating diverse platforms and technologies from multiple vendors and service providers. One of the main challenges is ensuring seamless interoperability while maintaining high service quality and uptime. Effective communication and project management skills are essential, as the role involves aligning technical teams, external partners, and business stakeholders to deliver new features or resolve issues promptly. Staying updated with evolving telecom standards and managing tight project timelines are also common aspects of the job.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a VAS manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a VAS (Value Added Services) Manager, you need expertise in telecommunications, product development, and project management, often supported by a degree in engineering, IT, or business. Familiarity with VAS platforms, mobile service technologies, and relevant certifications like PMP or ITIL is highly beneficial. Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills are essential for managing cross-functional teams and driving innovative service offerings. These skills ensure the successful delivery and profitability of VAS products in a competitive telecom market.

Job description

iDrive Fulfillment is a growing, multi-site third-party logistics (3PL) and fulfillment company, and we're looking for a hands-on Value-Added Services (VAS) Manager to lead our customization team. If you thrive in a fast-paced operation, care about quality, and enjoy developing a team, we'd love to talk.

In this role you'll manage daily VAS workflows — hemming, embroidery, appliqué, engraving, and other customer-specific customization services — making sure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on time to client specifications and quality standards.

Compensation: $40,000–$55,000 per year, depending on experience.

What You'll Do

  • Manage daily VAS workflows and make sure client work orders and special-project instructions are clearly communicated to Team Leads and associates.
  • Plan project timelines, capacity, labor, and staffing to hit operational and cost targets; prioritize around deadlines, launches, and seasonal peaks, and escalate constraints before they impact clients.
  • Partner with AM/CX to scope new VAS programs — estimating labor, equipment, and materials and confirming feasibility before commitments are made to clients.
  • Own quality: enforce inspection checkpoints, investigate errors and complaints, and run root-cause analysis to reduce defects, rework, and customer impact.
  • Track and reduce product damage — proper identification, system damage-outs, damage logging, and corrective action to control loss and cost.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Team Leads and associates: set daily goals, run standups, manage performance, and partner with HR on associate needs and progressive corrective action.
  • Oversee new-hire training on SOPs, customer-specific instructions, equipment, and quality checks; cross-train for labor-share flexibility.
  • Uphold OSHA and safety standards — PPE, equipment upkeep, and 5S practices in a safe, organized VAS area.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Receiving, Inventory, Returns, Production, Outbound (DTC & Wholesale), AM/CX, and IT, and keep materials and supplies stocked cost-effectively.
  • Report department KPIs (completion, productivity, labor efficiency, quality/error rates, damages) and drive continuous improvement across workflows and equipment.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years in a fulfillment, warehouse, production, or manufacturing environment, including 2+ years leading or supervising a team.
  • Proven ability to manage workflows, timelines, capacity, and labor to hit productivity and cost targets.
  • Strong quality-control orientation — inspection, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action.
  • Solid leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to hold a team accountable for productivity, quality, safety, and attendance.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional coordination.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/safety standards, PPE, and 5S.
  • Comfort with warehouse/inventory systems and basic KPI reporting.
  • Availability to work on-site and support seasonal peaks, including flexible or extended hours as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Direct VAS/customization experience (embroidery, hemming, appliqué, engraving, screen printing).
  • Third-party logistics (3PL) or e-commerce fulfillment background.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Familiarity with Paycom or a similar HRIS/timekeeping system.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.

Why Join Us

  • Competitive pay ($40K–$55K).
  • Opportunity to lead and grow a key operational function.
  • Collaborative, supportive team environment.
  • Growth potential as the company continues to expand.
