What You'll Do:

Our Data Center Operations team is at the physical core of our business, responsible for building, maintaining, and operating the cutting-edge infrastructure that powers the cloud. This team ensures the stability, security, and scalability of our physical assets, working hands-on in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment. You will join a collaborative and curious group that is essential to delivering a best-in-class experience for our clients.

About the role:

The Data Center Technician will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. This position involves hardware and network diagnostics, followed by physical repair, and may include participation in an on-call rotation. This is a salaried, 100% onsite role at one of our Data Center locations.

What You'll Do:
  • Maintain data center operations to ensure service availability and reliability.
  • Conduct hardware and network diagnostics and repairs.
  • Root cause analysis of hardware and software failures.
  • Training of internal teams.
  • Development of documentation.
  • Provide technical support to data center teams.
  • Development of scripts to update the server and networking hardware.
  • Maintain inventory.
  • Assemble and install equipment.
  • Perform maintenance of test and tool equipment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to other data center locations as required by business needs.
  • Essential duties include the ability to respond to on-site equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes while on scheduled on-call.
Who You Are:
  • Computer Hardware experience (troubleshooting, assembling)
  • Linux Operating System experience.
  • Ability to regularly transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods to perform diagnostic and repair tasks.
  • Ability to maneuver in cramped or elevated spaces, such as under-floor areas or on ladders, to access server racks.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, such as handling small hardware components and cables.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule within a 24/7 environment, including participating in a rotating on-call shift.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and react quickly to issues.
  • Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled data center. Candidates must be able to perform essential job duties in an environment with fluctuating temperatures and variable airflow - specifically within designated hot and cold aisles - ranging from 60F to 90F.
Preferred:

Hands-on OR education-based experience with any of the following areas:

  • Computer Hardware, including troubleshooting and repair skills experience
  • Data Center experience
  • Computer Networking experience
  • Python, Bash, or other scripting languages experience
  • Experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS
  • An Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field

The base salary range for this role is $65,000 to $83,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).
