Director of Fleet Safety & Compliance

Job Summary

Budd Van Lines is looking for a Director of Fleet Safety & Compliance to lead the safety operations of our national fleet, Household Goods Experience required. This position plays a critical role in ensuring full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations, while actively supporting and improving safety initiatives for both employees and independent contractors.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage fleet safety and compliance programs
  2. Audit and manage ELD, HOS violations, CSA BASICs, and safety data
  3. Ensure compliance with CFR 49, DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state safety regulations
  4. Maintain driver qualification files, annual MVRs, and inspection records
  5. Analyze trends and recommend corrective actions for safety improvements
  6. Supervise Safety & Compliance team and support garage operations
  7. Provide reports to leadership and collaborate on equipment and driver policy decisions
  8. Be available for emergency response and on-call situations

Requirements

  1. 3–5 years of experience in fleet safety or transportation compliance
  2. Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  3. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  4. Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA/OSHA regulations
  5. CDL, Class A license is a plus
  6. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  7. Full-time on-site availability required

Compensation

???? Salary Range: $82,000-$118,000 per year
Final offer will be based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
