Job description

Position Summary
The Coordinator of Esports plays a critical role in the ongoing development, management, and
success of the Transylvania University Esports Program. This position provides strategic
leadership in competitive gameplay, student development, recruitment, and operational oversight
of the university’s Esports initiatives. The coach works collaboratively with campus partners to
create a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment that aligns with the mission and values
of the university.
The coach plays a key role in recruiting and retaining both prospective and current students for
the program. Through active outreach, collaboration with the Admissions Office, and promotion
of the Esports program at events and tournaments, the coach helps position Esports as a unique
and attractive component of the Transylvania student experience. This is a 10-month position
with the ability to expand to 12-months depending on summer activities and events.
Essential Duties:
Provide leadership, coaching, and training for students in competitive Esports titles (e.g.,
League of Legends, Valorant, Rocket League, Overwatch, etc)
Recruit and retain current and prospective students to participate in the Esports program
Coordinate High School visits to create partnerships and establish recruiting pipelines
Establish a relationship with KHSAA to invest in the University’s recruitment efforts for
local and state High Schools and Middle Schools
Organize and supervise team practices, matches, tournaments, and scrimmages, both
in-person and online, ensuring compliance with university and league guidelines
Develop and enforce team policies, codes of conduct, and academic expectations
Oversee the daily operations of the Esports Lounge
Manage the lounge student managers to ensure the daily operation of the Esports Lounge
is smooth, efficient, and professional
Manage the program’s budget, including equipment purchases, league registrations, and
event logistics.
Promote the Esports program through social media (Discord, Twitch, Instagram, etc),
summer camps, and partnerships
Coordinate Twitch Streams for all Esports competitions
Collaborate with other departments across campus to bolster the Esports program (this
could include Digital Arts, Business & Marketing, etc)
Secondary Duties:
Participate in after-hours weekly “on-call” duty rotation with the Student Life staff
Represent the Office of Campus & Community Engagement on university-wide
committees and at campus events
Provide support for clubs and organizations that involve gaming
