Position Summary

The Inspector & Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring short‑term vacation rental properties are fully functional, safe, clean, and guest‑ready. This role combines detailed property inspections with hands‑on maintenance and light repairs. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, mechanically skilled, and understands the fast pace and guest-impacting nature of vacation rental operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesProperty Inspections
  • Conduct routine property inspections including:

    • Pre‑arrival, post‑departure, and preventative inspections

    • Safety, cleanliness, and functionality checks

  • Identify maintenance issues, damages, and missing items

  • Document findings with photos and written reports in the work order system

  • Verify properties meet company standards, brand expectations, and safety requirements

Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform general maintenance and light-to-moderate repairs, including:

    • Basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and appliance repair

    • HVAC filter changes and basic troubleshooting

    • Smart locks, Wi‑Fi, TVs, thermostats, and smart home devices

  • Respond to guest‑impacting maintenance issues promptly

  • Complete repairs efficiently to minimize guest disruption

Preventive Maintenance
  • Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance tasks

  • Identify recurring issues and recommend long‑term solutions

  • Ensure tools, equipment, and replacement parts are properly maintained

Coordination & Communication
  • Work closely with housekeeping, operations, and guest services teams

  • Communicate maintenance status and urgent issues clearly and professionally

  • Coordinate with vendors or escalate larger repairs when needed

Guest Experience Focus
  • Ensure properties are consistently "guest-ready"

  • Maintain professional conduct when interacting with guests on-site

  • Support quick resolutions to issues that may affect guest satisfaction or reviews

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ minimum years of maintenance or property inspection experience

  • Strong working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and general repairs

  • High attention to detail and strong inspection skills

  • Ability to use mobile apps, inspection checklists, and work order systems

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied conditions

Compensation & BenefitsHourly Salary

$18 - $20

Bonus

This role is eligible for a KPI-based performance bonus, with a target payout at 100% and an opportunity to earn up to 150% for exceeding goals. Bonus metrics include cost control, guest-impacting issues, and team leadership performance. Paid quarterly.
