Job Description

The Division of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator 3 to join their team.

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Research Manager, the Research Coordinator will take a lead role in conducting and managing a clinical research program undertaking studies that focus on the adult cystic fibrosis patient population.

Key Responsibilities

70% Clinical Research Operations

  • This position is responsible for collaborating on implementation and ongoing management of CF clinical trials being conducted at the UW and collaborating sites. Implementation includes orientation and training to each study's protocol requirements and processes. This individual will implement assigned aspects of data collection and ensure UW site subject compliance and adherence with protocol requirements. This position is responsible for tracking milestone achievements for the site while responding to data queries and assuring data entry accuracy.
  • Identifies, screens, recruits, and consents subjects for UW site participation. Administers a wide variety of clinical survey instruments and conducts study visits with patients.

15% Research Compliance

  • Responsible forIRB submissions using both UW and private IRB systems and direct response to Human Subjects Office and Office of Sponsored Programs. Assist with developing study manuals and case report forms in compliance with extramural sponsor and UW compliance office guidelines.

15% Research Administration financial management

  • Ensures accurate tracking and timely payment of study subject stipends and/or travel reimbursements. Investigates and documents study costs for grant or contract proposals and post-award expenditure management. Utilizes clinical trial management systems to review clinical charges.

Required Qualifications:

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a health sciences related field with 4 years of relevant experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Clinical research operations experience including project management and long range planning.
  • The individual must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The individual must have demonstrated problem-solving skills, strong detail orientation and ability to adeptly manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of the clinical research interaction, this position must have the ability to work with various individual working styles and organizational systems is necessary.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with UW research policies and guidelines including IRB development, budget development and budget management.
  • Fluency in Spanish, with the ability to conduct study visits and patient interviews in Spanish, is preferred.
