Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lee’s Summit Printing Department is responsible for the printing and decoration of plastic manufactured food containers.  

Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for operating a dry offset printing press and packing/unpacking rigid plastic containers and lids. A fully qualified Machine Operator will be skilled in the following key responsibilities, however may only be required to perform one of more of the responsibilities at a given time.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

 

  • Start, stop, run, and tear down Dry Offset Printing Presses
  • Perform  job kit verification, line clearance, replacing plates and washing and preparing color heads
  • Run all lid and base presses, this includes all six and eight color presses
  • Pack/unpack boxes of finished products according to customer requirements
  • Remove and handle trending tray product samples
  • Apply labels to boxes and stamp every box without pre-labeling
  • Cover other Machine Operators during their lunch and breaks
  • Monitor product quality, visually inspecting products at the packing station and maintaining the trending tray
  • Perform product control duties, update job cards and enter information on daily machine scheduling and attainment board (white board)
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures and never compromise safety
  • Treat fellow team members with honesty, respect and dignity
  • Meet standards of conduct and adhere to 5S, HACCP and Health and Safety rules

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Educational Requirements: High School or equivalent

Minimum Experience/Field: Minimum six months work experience in a printing or manufacturing environment.  Dry Offset printing experience required.

Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills
