Job description


The College of Nursing (CON) at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, the state's flagship research institution, seeks a Simulation IT Specialist to support our simulation labs. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management, functionality, and continuous readiness of all simulation technologies, including high-fidelity manikins, the audiovisual (AV) recording system, and secure storage servers used to capture and maintain simulation recordings. The role ensures simulation equipment and supporting systems are properly configured, maintained, and available to meet instructional and program needs. The position also plays a key instructional support role by providing training and guidance to faculty and staff on the proper use of simulation technologies, helping ensure consistent, high-quality learning experiences and reliable use of recording and storage tools across programs.
Responsibilities
  • Manages and maintains simulation technology.
  • Coordinates management of vendor service contracts including service requests, communication with service technician and follow-up.
  • Performs test runs on manikins and updates equipment, including preventative maintenance.
  • Partners with Sim Team to set up & break down simulation labs.
  • Maintains inventory of Simulation IT Supplies and Technology needs.
  • Maintains communication and logistics for manikin and equipment warranties and service contracts with manikin vendor(s) (Laerdal service/warranty contracts).
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality in accordance with all policies and guidelines.
  • Manages HITS server maintenance of video files including back up of course and grant recordings.
  • Serves as a liaison between the simulation center and the manufacturer of simulation equipment regarding troubleshooting and system problems.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree

Experience:
  • 3+ years' of IT support experience

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in educational technology, IT, audiovisual/media production, simulation operations, healthcare education support, or a related field

Experience
  • 2+ years' of simulation technology support

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of Mac O/S beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • UT market range: MR06
  • Anticipated hiring range: $52,000 - $54,000
