Project Superintendent – Life Sciences / Medical Construction

About the Role

McDonald York is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent with life sciences or medical construction experience to lead field operations on complex, high-performance projects.

This role is responsible for day-to-day jobsite leadership, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality. Ideal candidates have experience working in labs, healthcare facilities, clean rooms, or pharmaceutical environments and understand the precision and coordination these projects require.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead all field operations including schedule, safety, quality, and subcontractor coordination
  • Manage 3–6 week look-ahead schedules and drive project timelines
  • Oversee work in regulated environments (labs, healthcare, clean rooms, cGMP)
  • Coordinate complex systems (MEP, HVAC, specialty gases, critical utilities)
  • Lead subcontractor meetings and serve as the primary field point of contact
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and client safety standards
  • Oversee quality control, punch list, and project turnover
  • Maintain daily reports, documentation, and jobsite coordination
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of commercial construction experience (10+ preferred)
  • Experience in life sciences, healthcare, or laboratory construction strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems and complex builds
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
