Job description

For six decades Garver has designed projects for more than 250 aviation clients. Garver understands the complexities of airport systems held together by runways, roadways, facilities, and electrical systems that need to work in tandem to accommodate daily needs for travel and transport. Garver’s Aviation Team maintains a diverse, skilled design team dedicated to providing the expertise and leadership to assist our clients in meeting both current and future needs.
Garver’s Huntsville, Alabama office is looking for a project manager to join our diverse, skilled team. Aviation project managers are responsible for development of infrastructure supporting airports including site design, grading, drainage, utilities, sanitary sewer, roadway, electrical, and pavement design with emphasis on critical airport infrastructure such as runways, taxiway and aprons. Our aviation project managers oversee these projects from inception, through design, bidding, construction, all the way to closeout.
Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Project management of aviation design projects for commercial service and general aviation airports
  • Drafting project specifications and contract documents
  • Construction administration and oversite for aviation clients
  • Collaborate and coordinate with multi-disciple design engineers and technicians
  • Coordination with subconsultants
  • Design projects with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and aviation specialty programs
  • Provide outstanding client service
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 6+ years of experience in civil engineering, preferably with aviation project experience
  • Responsive and consistent in communications
  • Proficient in design software packages such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, aviation specialty programs
  • Travel will be required with occasional overnight stays.
Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience working with a multi-disciplined team while overseeing project execution
  • Experience in managing construction projects at airports
  • Licensed pilot or other aviation-related experience
