Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Municipal Project Manager to support and lead the delivery of civil engineering, site development, and municipal infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction. This role will be based in the Huntsville office and offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects supporting the continued growth and development of communities across Alabama and the Gulf Coast region.
The Municipal Project Manager will serve as a key technical and project leadership resource, working closely with clients, engineers, technical staff, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. This position offers strong opportunities for professional growth, client development, technical leadership, and mentorship.
Your Responsibilities

  • Manage civil engineering projects from planning and design through construction.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring successful project delivery and strong long-term relationships.
  • Lead project teams, including engineers, designers, and technical staff across multiple offices.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and overall project performance.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record when applicable and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and other technical disciplines.
  • Review engineering plans, specifications, reports, and project deliverables for quality and compliance.
  • Support site development and municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, utilities, drainage, grading, and related infrastructure.
  • Support proposal development, fee preparation, client presentations, and business development activities.
  • Participate in client meetings, project reviews, and construction-related activities.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineering staff.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the Huntsville office and surrounding Alabama markets.
  • Maintain a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence, quality, and client satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Alabama required.
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience, with a focus on site development and/or municipal infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing civil engineering projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong client communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with Alabama permitting processes, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of project scope, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
