Job description

Rogers Group is currently seeking an Estimator/Project Manager for our Alabama Operations Area located in Huntsville, Alabama. This position reports to the Chief Estimator. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on safety excellence.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Active participation in company safety program, values, policies, and strategic plan. 

  • Prepares bid packages, estimates, analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for commercial and municipality projects. 

  • Reviews plans, specifications, contract documents and attend pre-bid meetings to understand requirements for accurate bid preparation.
  •  Ability to coordinate multiple activities and groups of work teams to produce maximum project efficiency. 
  • Communicate and maintain positive working relationships with owners, engineers, architects, customers, and internal team members to develop bid packages, manage projects and resolve operational issues. 

  • Analyzes project cost, and pricing information for preparation of bids, construction subcontracts and project management.
  • Directly monitor job progress, status of project estimates, invoicing and subcontractors to ensure proper constructability, completion and close-out of projects.
  • Create and maintain accurate forecast as it relates to job cost and margin from conception to completion of projects.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as necessary assigned by manager.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field is preferred.

  • 5+years of experience in estimating, project management and supervision.

  • Knowledge of asphalt paving, grading/drainage and utility work. 

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.

  • Proven sales, negotiation, and customer relations skills.

  • Ability to utilize software tools at a proficient skill level (Microsoft Suite, HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job, AGTEK, Blue Beam, and Bid Tabs). 

  • Excellent time management and delegation skills.

  • Proven record of being a self-starter and able to work under limited supervision.
