We are currently searching for an experienced Environmental and NEPA Manager to support our Gulf located in Alabama.


To be considered for this position, applicants must have at minimum 5 years' experience in transportation/NEPA planning.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare NEPA studies for federally funded projects, including Categorical Exclusions (CE), Environmental Assessments (EA), Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) for various transportation project types and sizes
  • Coordinate with internal project teams
  • Perform site visits for projects as required
  • Lead public involvement efforts for environmental projects
  • Manage projects to achieve budget, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Assist in business development for environmental projects

What you need to have:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Planning, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation/NEPA planning required
  • GIS experience is a plus
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative team skills are required
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
