Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support large-scale power infrastructure projects that enable critical data center operations. This role is responsible for leading engineering execution across the full project lifecycle-from concept through detailed design and transition to construction-ensuring delivery aligns with scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

This is a high-impact opportunity to work on complex, high-visibility projects while driving engineering excellence, innovation, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Project Engineering & Execution

  • Lead engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, including conceptual design, engineering planning, detailed design, and construction handoff

  • Manage external engineering firms to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards

  • Drive the development and review of engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and design packages

  • Conduct constructability reviews and support smooth transition to construction teams

Project Management & Coordination

  • Partner closely with Project Managers and Project Controls teams to manage project schedules and budgets

  • Develop and support capital engineering execution plans aligned to financial targets

  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners

  • Monitor engineering performance, risks, and progress using project management tools and systems

Technical Leadership & Optimization

  • Apply industry standards and engineering best practices to define project scope and ensure design integrity

  • Identify risks early and incorporate mitigation strategies into engineering deliverables

  • Drive continuous improvement, design optimization, and cost-effective engineering solutions

  • Promote adoption of tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance engineering outcomes

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior engineers and project team members

  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Support training and knowledge-sharing across the organization

  • Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Construction, Operations, and Finance

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited)

  • 7-9 years of experience in electric utility engineering or operations

  • 1-3 years of experience leading teams, contractors, or projects

  • Strong knowledge of utility infrastructure, engineering design, and construction practices

  • Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost management

  • Familiarity with industry codes, regulations, and safety standards

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and AutoCAD (or equivalent)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass DOT drug testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in utility engineering or operations

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or data center projects

Salary Range*:

$113,500.00 - $170,300.00

*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
