Job description

Title: Project Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL (Remote, with ~20% in-person meetings)
Hire Type: Embedded Contract
Pay: $40-50/hr

We are seeking a Project Engineer with experience in distribution design to join our team. This role will handle QC design for both pre- and post-construction phases, applying technical expertise to ensure all project specifications are met. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility or civil engineering projects and be comfortable managing small to medium-sized projects.

Job Duties:
  • Lead small to medium distribution design projects.
  • Perform QC design for pre- and post-construction phases.
  • Review, draft, and analyze plan and profile drawings for civil or utility projects.
  • Apply technical expertise to ensure project specifications and standards are met.
  • Coordinate with team members, attend in-person meetings (~20% of the time), and support field activities as needed.
Qualifications:
  • 5โ€“8 years of experience in distribution design.
  • Experience with road Right-of-Way engineering, utility engineering, or related civil/construction work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Copilot.
  • ABET-accredited Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering required (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
  • Skilled in design tools and drafting software.
