Job description

Responsibilities & Expectations: 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Utility Operator to join our team. As an Utility Operator for IPS, it is important that you are up to the task of cleaning, stripping and painting AC/DC motor parts during the disassembly and assembly stages of the repair process. You will use a variety of equipment to clean internal and external motor parts and distribute them where necessary in the service center. You will work especially close with the winding department while sand blasting. It is required that you follow all safety procedures and wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment when applicable.    

  • Cleans internal and external parts of motors, frames, cores, armatures, gears, housings and other equipment for repair 
  • Operate cleaning equipment including but not limited to: steam cleaner, parts washers, sand-blaster, etc. 
  • Operate specialized repair equipment including but not limited to: dip tanks, VPI systems and controlled temperature burnout and bake-out ovens as well as various handheld power and non-power tools  
  • Clean internal and external parts of motors to include frames, cores, armatures, gears, housings and other equipment for repair 
  • Operate material handling equipment such as fork truck and cranes, etc., to aid in delivering or storing motors and parts 
  • Paint repaired assembled motors before shipped back to the customer 
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear. Maintain housekeeping in assigned area 

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • Ability to perform stripping operations to prepare A/C and D/C motor parts and components and other equipment for repair and assembly  
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment such fork truck and cranes, etc., to aid in delivering or storing motors and parts 
  • Demonstrate ability to correctly fill out and consistently follow proper procedures  
  • Operate hand tools in a safe and effect manner  
  • Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures   
  • Work overtime and weekends as required 
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time     
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 lbs
