Job description

This is an entry level position at the PVS Chemical Solutions Chicago plant. The utility will participate in a structured familiarization process of the plant and each department - loading, operations and maintenance. Once familiar, the utility will assist in different areas of the plant, as needed. This could include general labor activities or assisting other employees in their tasks.
Pay Rate: $27.59 an hour starting to $34.49 after 3 years
HSE&S RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. The Nicholson Nine
  2. Adhere to all policies, guidelines and standards
  3. OSHA Process Safety Management 29 CFR 1910.119
  4. EPA Risk Management Program 40 CFR Part 68
  5. DHS Appropriations Act of 2007 CFATS
  6. DOT 49 CFR
  7. All other applicable regulatory requirements
  8. ICCA Responsible Care
  9. Report and participate in near miss investigation and mitigation to strive for Beyond Zero
  10. Recognize and commend co-workers that demonstrate outstanding HSE&S behavior
  11. Complete all applicable training on time
  12. Audit participation and mitigation as needed
  13. Direct involvement in safety analysis by reviewing process and communication

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Excellent safety behavior
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Respirator Fit Test
  • Follow all plant policies, standard operating procedures and life critical permits
  • Take samples as required
  • Notify supervision of problems that require attention
  • Other work as directed by supervisor

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • High School education, or equivalent, plus specialized course work beyond High School
  • Minimum 2 years of Industrial experience
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the chemical loading field.
  • Ability to interpret and understand instructions which are written in English
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstration of common sense and excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Disposed to avoid unnecessary risks.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and change priorities immediately as required.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders repeatedly and capacity to work under extreme hot/cold conditions near moving equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Will be required to wear PPE including but not limited to fall, chemical, and respiratory protection.
  • Proficiency in basic written communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications; especially Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Works overtime as required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in the chemical rail or truck loading handling field.
  • Experience and licensed to operate forklifts, manlift, and skid steer.
  • Experience working in a PSM and RMP regulated chemical plant.
