General Utility/Hand Labor - 1st Shift
Shift/Hours: Monday - Friday 5:00am - 3:00pm
Starting Pay Rate: $16.00/Hr.
In General Utility at Pratt Industries - Memphis, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production machinery. This position involves a variety of tasks, including machine setup, operation, cleanup, and troubleshooting, with a focus on safety, meeting customer demand and maintaining high-quality standards. You'll work in a fast-paced environment, constantly striving for improvements in equipment efficiency while ensuring safety and cleanliness in your work area.

Key Duties and Success Factors:
  • Safety & Compliance: You must adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, ensure compliance with operational guidelines and OSHA regulations
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect products and materials to meet quality standards, follow proper procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in production, and identify and report any quality concerns.
  • Operational Efficiency: Operate or learn to operate a variety of machinery including forklifts and production equipment. Monitor equipment performance, report malfunctions, and assist in setup/adjustments as well as routine maintenance of machines.
  • Training & Development: Participate in periodic training sessions to enhance skills, stay updated on best practices for manufacturing operations, and apply learned skills to improve workplace productivity and efficiency.
  • Reporting & Maintenance: Document operational data and report production progress, assist with troubleshooting minor mechanical issues, and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Flexibility & Teamwork: Adapt to changes in work assignments, shifts, and production needs. Collaborate with coworkers to meeting production goals and willingly take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.

What You'll Need to be Successful:
  • Experience: Prior experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to follow instructions under limited supervision
    • Load and unload materials safely and efficiently
    • Operator forklifts and other equipment as needed (Training Provided)
    • Maintain a clean work environment by properly disposing of waste.
    • Basic PC Skills
    • Ability to learn manufacturing principles and practices
    • Performing basic mathematical calculations and read a tape measure
  • Physical Requirements: Standing, bending, and repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Certifications:
    • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain one
    • Compliance with physical, drug-screening, and background check requirements.
