Role Overview

TheArcGIS Utility Network Technical Architectwill serve as the senior technical authority guiding bothour clientteam and the Accenturedevelopment teamsthrough the definition, design, and implementation ofEsri's ArcGIS Utility Network.

This roleis responsible fortranslating electric and gas utility operational requirements into a scalable, serviceoriented GIS architecture, while leading the migration from legacy, databasecentric GIS models to a modern, enterprise webGIS platform.

Acting as a trusted advisor, the Technical Architect will overseeall functional andtechnical design decisions related to Utility Network configuration, data modeling, service architecture, integrations, and performance. The role ensures the Utility Network solution aligns withourclientsenterprise architecture standards, operational workflows, and longterm grid modernizationobjectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as thelead ArcGIS Utility Network Technical Architectforour clientimplementation, providing architectural direction across planning, design, build, and deployment phases.

  • Define and own thetarget ArcGIS Utility Network architecture, including domain networks, tiers, subnetworks, services, and integration patterns for electric and gas systems.

  • Lead themigration strategy from legacy GIS models(e.g., Geometric Network or custom data models) to ArcGIS Utility Network, with emphasis on servicecentric, APIdriven access patterns.

  • Design and governUtility Network data models, network rules, associations, and topology configurations supporting electric and gas distribution operations.

  • Guidefunctional and technical solutioning to ensure GIS capabilities supportendtoend utility workflows, including planning, design, construction, operations, outage response, and asset management.

  • Lead technical design forservicebased integrationsbetween GIS and enterprise systems such as EAM, Work Management, OMS, and field mobility platforms.

  • Provide handson technical leadership to GIS developers, data migration teams, and integration specialists, ensuring solution quality, scalability, security, and performance.

  • Identifyarchitectural risks, performance considerations, and change management impacts associated with Utility Network adoption, and recommend mitigation strategies based on industry best practices.

  • Produce andmaintainarchitecture and technical design artifacts, including solutionarchitectures, service interaction diagrams, integration designs, and deployment models.

  • Lead andparticipatein architecture reviews, design workshops, and executive briefings withour client's businessand IT stakeholders.

Leadership & Client Engagement

  • Acts as atrusted technical advisortoour clientbusiness leaders, IT architects, and utility operations stakeholders.

  • Leads crossfunctional design sessions bridging business requirements and technical solutioning.

  • Mentors and guides delivery teams, ensuring architectural consistency and adherence to Utility Network best practices.

Technical Expertise Needed

  • Extensive handson experience with theEsri ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Utility Network, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS REST APIs.

  • Deepexpertiseinserviceoriented GIS architectures, withdemonstratedsuccess transitioning from databasecentric access models to servicebased, webGIS paradigms.

  • Strong understanding ofUtility Network system architecture, including branch versioning, services, workload separation, and scalable deployment patterns.

  • Experience designing secure, scalable GIS solutions aligned withenterprise IT standards, including identity, security, performance, and availability considerations.

  • Familiarity integrating GIS with enterprise platforms using RESTbased services and industrystandard integration approaches.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience inutility GIS architecture and implementation, with a focus on electric and gas utilities.

  • Multiple fulllifecycle ArcGIS Utility Network (or equivalent) implementations for large, complex utility organizations.

  • Hybrid background spanningutility operations, GIS solution architecture, and enterprise system integration.

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to travel for client work as needed
