Position summary:

This important role will coordinate, schedule and provide field supervision for all distribution line construction, maintenance and design of projects. This position will also provide customer service requirements on specific divisions within our Black Hills Energy electrical distribution systems.

Pay Range: $103,150 - $170,200 (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Reporting Relationship: Electric Operations Manager

Location: Pueblo, CO

Essential Functions:
• Requires proven management, technical skills, labor/employee relations, cross functional coordination and problem solving, innovative contractor and project management, budget management, cost/benefit sensitivity and a community presence.
• Ensure customer service work is being accomplished in an effective manner and customer expectations are consistently met. Required to work with customer on billing issue and power quality complaints.
• Assist Operations Manager and Utility Construction Planners with preparation of work orders. Work with the estimating and engineering departments to ensure the lowest cost possible for our customers and shareholders.
• Participate in the budget process of the Electric Operations Department. Monitor Electric Operations Department’s cost expenditures and variances on a regular basis.
• Coordinate scheduled maintenance of equipment and tools used by assigned personnel and ensure employees are accurately preparing records for input into the various Company systems such as the time system and mapping.
• Support the implementation and compliance of various electronic systems used by field crews.
• Provide property owner interface for access to distribution facilities, coordination of ROW damage claims and customer complaints. Handle Third Party Damages, Street Lights, Line Crews, Service Trucks, Bore Crew, Locators and Power Quality.
• Supervise Field employees and maintain positive relationships with employees, customers, contractors, community and business leaders, peers and management.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Must understand the difference between capital and O&M expenses and have the ability to manage the budget between the two correctly.
Teamwork/Collaboration – Recognizes the value of teamwork and embraces collaboration. Cultivates a spirit of partnership, cooperation, trust and valuing diversity, in pursuing solutions to meet goals.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies related to the electric distribution system. Available for after-hours call out for responses to electric distribution system emergencies and participate in rotational after-hours standby duties and accompany line crews to storms in other states.
What Is Required:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in construction, project leadership, operations and maintenance or relevant field.
• Strong Commitment to Safety.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and direct work in a safe and efficient manner.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers, contractors, community and business leaders, peers and management.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office and various specialized software.
• This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
• This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
What Is Desired:
• Effective project management, planning and scheduling skills; managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrates knowledge of electric distribution materials, construction standards and distribution construction practices as well as the office side with collections, work requests, turn on and turn offs of meters.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of union contract and labor relations.
• Strong project management skills.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and direct multiple projects concurrently.
