Job description

YU & Associates, Inc., an awarding winning engineering firm located in Elmwood Park, New Jersey is seeking a Senior Utility Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Utility Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the planning, design, and preparation of contract documents for the construction of stormwater and utility infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage utility aspects of projects, oversee design and production of plans and specifications, and ensure that the work is produced on schedule profitably.
  • Collaborate with project teams to analyze utility relocation conflicts on infrastructure projects.
  • Review and provide feedback on Utility Owner design submittals.
  • Coordinate utility design efforts with consultants and stakeholders.
  • Perform constructability reviews to ensure compatibility with construction methods.
  • Analyze projects and direct ASCE SUE investigations.
  • Compile and compute a variety of engineering data.
  • Prepare plans, and details and develop engineering drawings, specifications, and other project deliverables.
  • Support and participate in the development and mentorship of staff.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • PE License in New Jersey and/or New York required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering design.
  • Skilled with CAD/Design Software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3d, Inroads/Openroads).
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Experienced with ASCE standard governance of subsurface utility engineering.
  • Experience with different construction techniques and constructability of utilities and associated civil aspects in design-build projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, data analysis & technical problem solving, organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to travel to job sites.
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  • Ability to independently manage small to medium size projects.
