In the role of Utility EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you for:
  • Utility Coordination - Assist with coordination between the project team and utility owners existing within the vicinity of a civil engineering project to identify, understand, confirm, and mitigate utility risk to the project. Assist with conducting associated meetings and development of meeting materials and documentation.
  • Utility Research - Perform utility records research, obtain existing mapping and plans, and prepare utility contact lists.
  • Utility Investigation - Coordinate and / or assist with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations performed by HDR and / or subconsultants.
  • Utility Conflict Resolution - Identify utility conflicts on civil engineering projects and communicate findings to the project team and utility owners. Assist with coordination of resolution to those conflicts which may include conflict mitigation through project design or relocation of utilities.
  • Utility Design - Assist project engineers with design of wet and dry utilities required to accommodate civil proposed improvements.
  • Utility Plan Production - Assist with preparation of utility-related client deliverables such as civil project plans and specifications. Assist with preparation of exhibits for utility owners.
  • Utility Field Coordination - Work with utility owners and construction management teams during the installation of utility relocations.
  • Overall Project Team Coordination - Work with the overall civil project team, project engineers, and project managers to meet client needs and objectives.
  • Overall Quality - Apply company/client quality assurance guidelines and procedures for project documents, time and budget management. Participate in the QA/QC review of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Two years of related experience in the Transportation/Roadway/Utility industry.
  • Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with Highways and Roads engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and understand civil transportation engineering design plans.
  • Ability to read and understand utility installation and adjustment plans.
  • Position requires strong communication, both verbal and written, organization skills, attention to detail, scheduling and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk CAD programs such as AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Familiarity with Bentley CAD programs such as MicroStation and ORD.
  • Familiarity with GIS-related programs such as ArcGIS and Field Maps.
  • Familiarity with PDF-editing software such as Bluebeam or Adobe.
  • Demonstrated external communication skills.
  • Experience interfacing with utility providers.
  • Field experience in construction oversight or surveying capacity.
  • Basic understanding of real estate principles and the ability to comprehend easements and other general documents associated with property rights.
