Position Summary

The Construction Manager โ€“ Line is responsible for the overall management and execution of transmission and distribution line construction projects from mobilization through completion. This position provides leadership and direction to field construction teams and ensures that projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, approved drawings, specifications, utility standards, and Saber Power policies.

The Construction Manager works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, engineers, safety personnel, QA/QC, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, and utility clients to coordinate all aspects of line construction.

The ideal candidate is an experienced transmission or distribution construction professional with demonstrated experience leading large, complex line projects and managing multiple field crews, subcontractors, and project resources.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide overall field leadership for transmission and distribution line construction projects.
  • Plan and coordinate construction activities, manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project resources.
  • Lead Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, line crews, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
  • Oversee overhead and underground transmission and distribution construction, including new construction, rebuilds, upgrades, and relocations.
  • Manage line construction activities including clearing, access, foundations, pole and structure installation, framing, conductor stringing, sagging, clipping, splicing, grounding, shield wire/OPGW installation, and associated hardware.
  • Review construction drawings, profiles, specifications, structure schedules, and bills of material to identify constructability issues.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to resolve RFIs, design changes, field issues, and constructability concerns.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and monitor progress, productivity, labor, equipment, and material usage.
  • Assist Project Management with project costs, change orders, forecasting, and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and ensure contractual requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with utility clients, landowners, inspectors, municipalities, and other project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate right-of-way, permitting, outage, environmental, and site requirements.
  • Ensure work around energized facilities is performed in accordance with utility procedures and applicable safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure construction meets project specifications and quality standards.
  • Review daily reports, production quantities, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Support project closeout, punch-list completion, as-built documentation, inspections, and turnover.
  • Champion Saber Power's safety culture and reinforce โ€œWe work safely, or not at all.โ€
  • Ensure employees and subcontractors comply with OSHA, NESC, utility, and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of transmission and/or distribution line construction experience.
  • Experience with transmission projects from 69kV through 765kV.
  • Experience managing electrical line construction projects and field personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution construction methods, equipment, materials, and sequencing.
  • Experience with structures, foundations, conductor stringing, sagging, splicing, grounding, and OPGW/shield wire installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, profiles, specifications, and structure schedules.
  • Working knowledge of NESC requirements and utility construction standards.
  • Experience working around energized electrical facilities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively to project sites.
