Overview

As an Energy Auditor, you support our conservation mission by conducting audits of multifamily, hotel, condominium, and other real estate facilities. During these audits, you will determine a customer’s eligibility to participate in our energy and water conservation measures. You will also support our sales team in designing conservation programs, generating proposals, assisting our field teams, and more.

A great auditor is an authority on both the conservation potential and practical usage of building envelope, HVAC, lighting, electrical, and plumbing systems. They are solutions oriented, critical thinkers who are passionate about energy and water efficiency and ecofi’s mission. This position will report to our Director of Engineering and Procurement. This position can either be remote or based out of our Miami office.

Responsibilities

  • Physically inspect buildings and related mechanical, electrical, plumbing, maintenance, and process systems to determine energy & water consumption in each area or system
  • Perform appropriate and applicable tests to determine the extent of inefficiency while utilizing a variety of tools such as measuring devices, light meters, data loggers, etc. to collect field data  
  • Analyze findings, establish baselines for energy & water use, identify energy sources, and recommend solutions and technologies. 
  • Compose and present audit reports containing the results of the energy & water analysis and recommendations for improved energy & water efficiency 
  • Provide a thorough education to end users regarding efficiency; fields and answers related questions
  • Design solution proposals for partners
  • Coordinate all required personal business travel
  • Maintain professional  and timely communication with clients
  • Support our field teams where needed by reviewing compliance with local energy codes, assisting in troubleshooting, identifying subcontracting partners, and more.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
 

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum two years of experience conducting comprehensive energy audits required; three to five years preferred
  • Certification from Building Performance Institute or commitment to obtain needed certifications within six months of start
  • Experience performing ASHRAE level 1 and 2 audits preferred 
  • Ability to travel nationally up to 70% of the time to conduct in-field conservation assessments 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly explain complicated technical matters to people with non-technical backgrounds
  • Strong customer service and ability to interact well with customers and coworkers
  • Good research and organizational skills
  • Thorough understanding of buildings and building systems including lighting, building envelope, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or G Suite, with ability to quickly learn Salesforce and our auditing software
  • An understanding of energy & water conservation principles and techniques
  • Basic understanding of methods used for technical and cost savings analysis and reporting
  • Basic understanding of energy modeling software
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Valid drivers license
