Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient clinical team. In this role, you will work directly alongside our Infectious Disease physicians and Nurse Practitioners to coordinate patient care, manage outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), administer specialized infusions, and act as a critical clinical resource and educator for patients navigating long-term infection treatments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Assessment & Care Coordination: Perform comprehensive triage, baseline assessments, and continuous monitoring for patients with acute and chronic infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, TB, Hepatitis, MRSA).
  • Infusion Therapy & PICC Management: Administer intravenous medications, monitor central lines/PICC lines, and coordinate home health logistics for patients undergoing Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT).
  • Patient Education & Advocacy: Provide critical counseling regarding medication adherence (particularly for antiretroviral therapies), potential side effects, infection control procedures, and wellness strategies.
  • Lab & Diagnostic Management: Coordinate specialized blood work, track lab results (viral loads, CD4 counts, therapeutic drug monitoring), and promptly report critical values to providers.
  • Prior Authorizations & Pharmacy Liaison: Collaborate with pharmacy partners and insurance providers to secure necessary prior authorizations for high-cost specialized medications and biologics.

Qualifications & Skills

  • License: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida (or a valid Multistate Compact License).
  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1โ€“2 years of clinical nursing experience required. Prior experience in infectious disease, public health, oncology, or outpatient infusion therapy is highly preferred.
  • Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Strong familiarity with sterile technique, standard precautions, and vascular access devices (PICC lines, ports).
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills, a non-judgmental approach to diverse patient populations, and strong organizational skills for managing complex patient caseloads.
