Job Description

The User Experience (UX) Group in San Diego is seeking a motivated intern with a passion for user experience and consumer products. This role will support senior usability researchers across a variety of research activities.

The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Cognitive Science, HumanComputer Interaction (HCI), or a related field, and has a foundational understanding of usercentered design and research methods.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of usability studies to evaluate new and existing products, and provide constructive recommendations for improvement

  • Conduct competitive benchmarking studies from a user interface and humanfactors perspective

  • Coordinate and schedule usability testing sessions, including deploying recruitment surveys and managing participant logistics

  • Synthesize research findings and propose actionable ideas or recommendations to address identified usability issues

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently studying Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or related coursework with a graduation date of 2026

  • Must be able to work at least 32 hours per week

  • Must be able to work in San Diego (Rancho Bernardo) office lab, as needed

  • Conduct user centered research activities

Preferred Skills

  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand and advocate for user needs

  • Working knowledge of interaction design and user-centered design principles

  • Familiarity with UI industry standards, including interface design best practices and user testing methodologies

  • Some experience analyzing and interpreting user research data, including basic statistical analysis Working knowledge of documentation tools used to create specifications and design artifacts

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and high volumes of email communication

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Awareness of and ability to work effectively across diverse cultures and global teams

Theanticipatedhourly wage for this position is between $24to $36. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base wage offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
