ABOUT THE UX RESEARCHER (MID-LEVEL) - CONTRACT ROLE / NYC
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative UX Researcher to join our clientโ€™s product team in New York City. The ideal candidate is a practitioner who excels in iterative, fast-paced environments and has experience in usability, concept testing, and prototype evaluation. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping the user experience by conducting frequent research sessions, analyzing data, and providing actionable insights to the product team.
ON-SITE REQUIREMENTS & LOGISTICS
This is an in-office position based in NYC. This role requires the individual to be in the office at least 3 days a week (Tuesday โ€“ Thursday).
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
You will execute multiple phases of user research, including writing research plans, developing participant screeners to identify specific profiles, moderating study sessions, and writing detailed reports. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure findings are integrated into the design and engineering workflows.
MID-LEVEL UX RESEARCHER KEY SKILLS
  • Execution of Research Phases: Proficiency in Planning, Scoping, Moderating, Analysis, and Reporting.
  • Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present findings clearly to cross-functional partners.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage your own schedule and handle multiple tasks effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaboration: Active collaboration with stakeholders to refine research questions and discuss project impact.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4โ€“7 years of industry work experience in the field of User Research (specifically in a tech/product environment, not solely academic).
  • Strong Methodology Knowledge: Solid understanding of human-computer interaction, experimental design, and qualitative data analysis.
  • Iterative Experience: Proven ability to run rapid-cycle usability studies and test early product builds.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled at generating research plans and defining user experience metrics.
  • Education: MA/MS or PhD preferred in HCI, Psychology, Human Factors, or a highly related field (minimum of a BA required with significant relevant experience).
