Trusted by over 200,000 federal employees and government contractors, our AI-infused software and deep domain expertise help contract shops, cost engineers, 1102s, program managers, and budgeting professionals cut through friction, keep compliance airtight, and sharpen decisions. Our federal focus brings efficiency, transparency, and clarity to complex data, regulations, and workflows, empowering agencies and executives to spend more minutes on mission and achieve strategic objectives. Unison is how federal business gets done.

Unison is proud to be recognized as a 2026 Quantum Certified Workplace™ in Washington D.C., reflecting our continued focus on building a workplace where people feel supported and teams thrive.

Role Description

In support of Unison's PRISM, Unison is seeking an experienced Testing Lead to support the maintenance and modernization of a department-level federal agency. This role will own and drive testing activities across system upgrades, patches, new releases, fixes, and enhancements. The Test Lead will combine hands-on testing expertise with leadership, ensuring that system changes are thoroughly planned, executed, validated, and ready for release.

The successful candidate will establish the overall testing approach, lead both planning and execution, oversee supporting QA resources, and serve as a trusted advisor to technical teams, business stakeholders, and federal customer leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Own the overall testing and release-validation strategy for upgrades, patches, fixes, new releases, and system enhancements.

  • Develop the testing approach and review and approve test plans, test cases, scripts, expected results, and entry and exit criteria.

  • Lead and execute System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), upgrade testing, regression testing, and other testing activities as required.

  • Develop, write, maintain, and execute test plans and test cases based on business requirements, technical designs, system specifications, and user workflows.

  • Validate test results and provide clear recommendations regarding system and release readiness.

  • Manage the submission, prioritization, tracking, retesting, and resolution of defects through closure.

  • Coordinate with developers, requirements analysts, business analysts, designers, and customer stakeholders to verify issues and confirm resolutions.

  • Oversee and coordinate the responsibilities and activities of the QA Test Support resource.

  • Review requirements, design documentation, user documentation, release notes, and project specifications for completeness, accuracy, and testability.

  • Identify testing risks, dependencies, coverage gaps, and readiness concerns, and communicate them clearly to project leadership.

  • Provide business-process optimization recommendations based on testing results, observed system behavior, and stakeholder feedback.

  • Develop clear testing status reports, defect summaries, readiness assessments, and recommendations for project and customer leadership.

  • Support testing schedules, resource planning, and coordination across multiple workstreams.

  • Help establish and maintain an automated regression testing suite using Selenium WebDriver.

  • Identify high-value regression scenarios appropriate for automation and coordinate their conversion into reusable automated test scripts.

  • Integrate automated regression testing into upgrade, patch, release, and enhancement validation activities.

  • Review automated test results, investigate failures, and determine whether issues are caused by defects, test data, environment conditions, or script maintenance needs.

  • Build strong working relationships with federal customer stakeholders and serve as a trusted advisor on testing quality, risk, and release readiness.

Required Qualifications
  • Significant experience testing integrated, web-based software applications.

  • Demonstrated experience leading testing for upgrades, patches, fixes, releases, and system enhancements.

  • Experience developing and executing testing strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts across functional testing, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and defect validation.

  • Experience using defect-tracking, test-management, or configuration-management processes and tools.

  • Ability to review and interpret business requirements, technical designs, workflows, user documentation, and system specifications.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and logical process-thinking skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain testing risks, defects, results, and recommendations to technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across project, technical, business, and customer teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required federal Public Trust determination.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal-government software implementations or modernization initiatives in a consulting capacity.

  • Knowledge of the federal acquisition or procurement process.

  • Experience with Unison’s PRISM.

  • Experience testing acquisition, financial-management, enterprise-resource-planning, or other complex business applications.

  • Experience working across multiple releases, patches, integrations, or concurrent testing workstreams.

  • Experience using Selenium WebDriver to create, execute, and maintain automated regression tests.

  • Experience designing or expanding an automated regression framework, including identifying appropriate test cases for automation.
