Job description

Salary:

Primary Function: Actively participate in the masonry work on the project. Assist leading and motivating masonry crew and masonry subcontractors, ensuring safety, production, quality control, schedule adherence, and tasks according to priorities and plans as set by the Masonry Superintendent. Key Duties include reading and interpreting plans, training workers, wall layout, and performing tasks such as laying brick and/or CMU, mixing mortar and conducting quality control inspections.
Responsibilities:

1. Reads and interprets plans and specifications from Architect/Engineer and can communicate these to others.
2. Proactively identifies problems that could delay masonry and implements resolutions as directed.
3. Oversees assigned masonry work to ensure compliance with the scope, quality, schedule adherence, and building codes as established by the contract documents.
4. Support Masonry superintendent in managing tool and equipment utilization for the project to ensure company resources are used efficiently.
5. Leads weekly Safety Meeting (when assigned).
6. Understands how to read project schedules.
7. Works proactively as directed by Masonry Superintendent to manage self-performance personnel, subcontractors and suppliers.
8. Promotes and maintains positive relationships with masonry subcontractors and suppliers.
9. Maintains assigned company assets.
10. Complies with M. B. Kahns Safety Program, OSHA guidelines, and Company policies, procedures, and standards.
11. Promotes integrity, honesty, hard work, safety, and quality throughout all aspects of the project and is a professional representative of M. B. Kahn.
12. Performs additional assignments as directed by management or as required for successful project completion.


Typical Duties:
- Record and submit accurate daily production quantities to the superintendent for his Daily Report and weekly Subcontractor payments.
- Mixing mortar/ grout
- Laying brick and/or CMU
- Installation of masonry flashing/training others to properly install masonry flashing assemblies.
- Maintaining tools and equipment.
- Ensure all tools are returned to the conex by the end of the day.
Qualifications (Education/Experience):
- Minimum 2-year Construction or Engineering Degree OR 1-3 years of practical field experience
Required Certification/Training: (If you havent completed these, well make the courses available to you during employment.)
- Completed OSHA 30 Hour Course for Construction
- Current First Aid Certification
- Lull Operator License
- Scaffold Competent Person
- Boom Lift Operator Certification
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in masonry work with an understanding of bonding, coursing and jointing of brick & CMU masonry.
- Ability to check walls for plumb and square using levels, lasers, etc. as necessary to insure quality control.
- Understands basic construction layout.
- Demonstrate ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks and use hand tools.
