As a USC, your workday generally consists of preparing patients for ultrasound procedures, operating imaging equipment, and collaborating with physicians to capture high-quality diagnostic images. You will document findings carefully, explain the process to patients to ensure their comfort, and maintain strict cleanliness and procedural standards. The role may require you to handle a range of cases, from scheduled outpatient appointments to urgent inpatient scans. Sonographers often work closely with radiologists and other healthcare staff, and depending on your facility, you may have opportunities to specialize in areas like cardiac, vascular, or OB/GYN sonography.
