What is a URC?

URC stands for Utilization Review Coordinator. These professionals are responsible for reviewing medical records and patient cases to ensure that healthcare services are medically necessary and meet insurance guidelines. URCs work closely with physicians, nurses, and insurance companies to coordinate patient care and facilitate approvals for treatments or procedures. Their role is essential in managing healthcare costs and ensuring patients receive appropriate care.

What are common challenges faced by Utilization Review Coordinators when managing caseloads, and how can they effectively address them?

Utilization Review Coordinators often face the challenge of balancing a high volume of cases while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and payer requirements. Additionally, they must communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and patients to gather necessary documentation and clarify coverage issues. To manage these challenges, URCs can prioritize organizational skills, stay up to date on policy changes, and leverage electronic health record systems to streamline workflows. Continuous professional development and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams also help address complex cases more efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Utilization Review Coordinator?

To thrive as a Utilization Review Coordinator, you need a background in healthcare, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience with patient case review, often supported by a nursing or healthcare management degree. Familiarity with utilization management software, electronic health records (EHRs), and sometimes certification such as Certified Utilization Review Specialist (C-URS) is typically required. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are vital soft skills for collaborating with providers and ensuring compliance. These skills ensure accurate evaluation of medical necessity, regulatory adherence, and optimized patient care and resource use.

Job description

Company Overview

Our team is partnering with a premier residential integration firm based in a stunning mountain community. For years, they have been the region's trusted experts for high-end technology solutions, specializing in custom home theaters, whole-home audio, networking, lighting control, shading systems, and smart home automation.

Unlike many integrators, they have built their business on long-term client relationships, exceptional craftsmanship, and service after the sale. If you're looking to trade the city grind for an incredible mountain lifestyle where world-class skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and outdoor adventure are part of everyday life, this opportunity deserves your attention.

Why Join Us?

Outdoor Paradise

Located in a premier mountain town—perfect for those who love skiing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and everything the outdoors has to offer. If you're looking to build a career without giving up the lifestyle you love, this is the place to do it.

True Team Culture

Join a tight-knit group that doesn't take themselves too seriously. It's a "mess with each other daily" environment where passion for the work is high, but egos are checked at the door. They're looking for someone who wants to contribute to the team—not someone who wants to change the culture that's made them successful since 1996.

Autonomy and Trust

Enjoy the freedom to manage your day and lead projects in the field. You'll be trusted to make decisions, solve problems, and deliver an exceptional experience for clients without someone constantly looking over your shoulder.

Grow Your Career (and Your Income)

This role is perfect for a high-level technician or programmer who's interested in expanding into consultative sales. You'll continue doing the technical work you enjoy while earning commission on opportunities you help develop, giving you a clear path to significantly increase your earning potential.

Outstanding Benefits & Unique Perks

We believe great people deserve great benefits, including:

  • 100% employer-paid health insurance
  • Three weeks of paid vacation plus paid holidays
  • IRA with a 3% company match
  • Company-paid cell phone
  • Take-home company vehicle
  • Corporate ski pass
  • Relocation assistance for the right candidate
  • Multiple team events throughout the year

Investment in You

We provide paid on-the-job training and support for manufacturer certifications so you can continue developing your technical expertise while growing professionally.

Job Overview

We're looking for a highly skilled Residential AV Lead Technician who thrives on solving technical challenges, leading installations, and building trust with clients.

You'll leverage your technical expertise to guide homeowners toward the right technology solutions during site visits and consultations. Your recommendations come from experience.

You'll lead projects in the field, perform advanced programming, mentor fellow technicians, and gradually expand into solution-based sales opportunities that reward your expertise with additional commission.

Responsibilities

Lead Complex Installations

  • Lead daily field activities on residential integration projects
  • Coordinate with technicians to ensure installations are completed to company standards
  • Maintain exceptional workmanship and attention to detail

Advanced Programming

  • Program and commission:
  • Control4 (required)
  • Lutron RA3 lighting
  • Lutron shading systems
  • Savant (preferred)
  • URC (preferred)

Client Consultation

  • Meet with homeowners to understand their needs
  • Recommend technology solutions that genuinely improve the client experience
  • Build long-term relationships through trust rather than aggressive selling

Sales Growth

  • Participate in project consultations
  • Help scope system upgrades and new opportunities
  • Earn commission on projects you help develop and close

Technical Leadership

  • Mentor technicians on job sites
  • Communicate effectively with project management and fellow team members
  • Represent the company professionally with clients

Required Qualifications

  • Residential AV integration experience
  • Expert-level Control4 programming
  • Strong experience with Lutron RA3 lighting and shading systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Experience leading installation projects
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Savant programming experience
  • URC programming experience
  • Josh.ai familiarity
  • Experience working directly with homeowners during project design
  • Interest in developing consultative sales skills

Who Will Thrive Here?

The ideal person isn't a stereotypical salesperson.

They're an experienced technician who naturally earns client trust through expertise, listens carefully, makes thoughtful recommendations, and enjoys helping homeowners achieve the best outcome.

They're collaborative, humble, and understand that joining an established team means contributing to its success—not reinventing it.

If you're someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, building relationships, and wants an opportunity to increase your earnings without giving up the technical work you love, you'll fit right in.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $70,000–$80,000 annually (based on experience)
  • Commission: Approximately 4% before tax on projects you help sell, creating significant earning potential beyond base salary
  • Relocation Assistance: Available for qualified candidates
