Assistant/ Associate Professor of Architecture
Job Summary
This is a full-time tenure-track position; the faculty member will be involved in a full teaching load, academic advising, active research, and scholarship in architecture or related fields. TSACS encourages a holistic, cross disciplinary teaching approach that integrates community outreach, historic preservation, urban planning, sustainable design, and design-build. In addition to teaching and research, faculty are required to serve on committees, present clear research and teaching effectiveness plans, grant-writing and fundraising, and fully participate in the school's academic life.
Essential Job Duties
  • Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom or design studios, in immediate preparation for them; maintaining and improving competence in subjects taught; preparing teaching materials; conferring with students on course materials; advising terminal projects; and supervising independent study projects. Professional development is an essential feature of effective teaching.
  • Student advising includes time spent meeting with students regarding academic, curricular and career matters. It also involves time spent organizing student files.
  • Research includes: work conducted to create and add to knowledge in a field of architecture which adds value to the school, including the advancement of new theories and principles; expansion and interpretation of existing ideas, theories, and principles; and improvement and application of knowledge, especially in new settings. Open dissemination and professional peer review are essential features of research productivity. Creative activity includes sustained artistic endeavors in design or production.
  • Academic citizenship includes service on school and departmental committees.

Preferred Qualifications
Associate Professor
Required Qualifications
    • Ph.D. in Architecture or closely related field, or Master's degree in Architecture
    • Architecture license
    • Prior teaching experience and knowledge of NAAB accreditation process
    • Publication in academic or professional journal within the last three years
    • Grant writing experience
  • Preferred Qualifications (highly encouraged, but not required)
    • Experience using 3D printing or CNC
    • Two or more peer-reviewed publications, with at least one as first author.
    • Experience in one of the following areas: historic preservation, industrial design, digital manufacturing, community design, healthcare design, campus planning, or design build

Assistant Professor
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Architecture or closely related field, or Master's degree in Architecture
  • Licensure or Completion of AXP and actively pursuing licensure
  • Preferred Qualifications (highly encouraged, but not required)
    • Experience using 3D printing or CNC
    • Architecture Licensure or the ability to pass the A.R.E. within one year of being hired
    • Prior teaching experience and knowledge of NAAB accreditation process
    • Grant writing experience
    • Experience in one of the following areas: historic preservation, industrial design, digital manufacturing, community design, healthcare design, campus planning, or design build
    • Publication in an academic or professional journal
