 What Is a PRN & On-Call Caregiver?

Our PRN (as-needed) caregivers serve as an important extension of our care team by helping cover:

  • Last-minute caregiver call-offs
  • Emergency staffing needs
  • New client start-ups

  • Weekend coverage needs
  • Vacation and leave coverage

When opportunities arise, our office team utilizes a preferred "Go-To Caregiver List" and contacts qualified caregivers who have demonstrated reliability, strong client care skills, and availability. You decide whether to accept the opportunity based on your availability.

 Paid Weekend On-Call Opportunities

In addition to PRN shift opportunities, qualified caregivers may be selected to participate in our Weekend On-Call Program.

Weekend On-Call Caregivers:

  • Receive compensation for being available during designated weekend periods

  • Help support clients when unexpected staffing needs arise
  • Serve as a critical resource for ensuring continuity of care

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a PRN Caregiver, you may provide any combination of the following services based on client needs:

Personal Care & Client Support
  • Assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene
  • Assistance with eating and daily living activities
  • Ambulation, mobility assistance, and walking support
  • Assisting clients to and from bed
  • Monitoring and supporting clients living with Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia
Household Support
  • Light housekeeping
  • Laundry and linen changes
  • Meal planning and meal preparation
  • Household organization and management
  • Apparel selection and dressing assistance
Companionship & Engagement
  • Meaningful conversation and companionship
  •  Emotional support and encouragement
  • Promoting engagement, independence, and quality of life
Transportation & Community Support
  • Transportation using the client's vehicle
  • Running errands and accompanying clients to appointments
Medication Support
  • Medication reminders in accordance with company policies
Overnight, Sleepover & Live-In Assignments (When Applicable)
  • Preparing sleeping areas
  • Assisting clients during the night as needed
  • Reporting frequent overnight care needs to the office

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid driver's license with no serious driving violations
  • Reliable transportation available during assignments
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English at an average adult level
  • Ability to successfully complete required training and skills assessments
  • Ability to complete required health screenings
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening prior to employment
  • Proof of First Aid and CPR certification within 3 months of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years of caregiving, home care, healthcare, or related experience
  • CNA certification, nursing education, healthcare coursework, or similar experience preferred but not required
  • Previous experience working independently in client homes
  • Weekend availability strongly preferred
