To thrive as a Unix Support Engineer, you need a solid understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems, scripting languages (such as Bash or Python), and a relevant degree or certifications like CompTIA Linux+ or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA). Familiarity with tools like SSH, system monitoring utilities, ticketing systems, and backup solutions is commonly required.
