Position

The Health Center Supervisor supports the Health Center Director in managing the day-to-day administrative operations of the health center. This position works closely with site leadership to ensure that staff, processes, and resources are effectively aligned with patient needs, customer service, financial performance, and quality objectives.

Summary

Under the supervision of the Health Center Director, the Health Center Supervisor provides administrative and operational leadership for front-line staff and supports the efficient functioning of the health center. The position assists with staff supervision, scheduling, training, performance management, patient flow, registration processes, provider scheduling, and revenue cycle activities.

The Health Center Supervisor serves as a key resource for staff and patients and may act on behalf of the Health Center Director during their absence. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, organization, customer service, and problem-solving skills while maintaining a professional, inclusive, and patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and provide administrative oversight of front-line staff to implement site goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Participate in the selection and hiring process, orientation, training, development, and disciplinary processes for staff under the direction of the Health Center Director.
  • Provide leadership, establish clear expectations, and hold staff accountable for performance, work behavior, and internal and external customer service.
  • Organize and delegate work processes to promote an inclusive environment and effective day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with staff time and attendance and develop administrative staff coverage plans.
  • Provide coverage for front-office staff as needed.
  • Assist with managing and maintaining provider template schedules to support appropriate utilization of clinic sessions.
  • Act on behalf of the Health Center Director in their absence to support daily facility operations.
  • Monitor administrative team efficiency within the EHR/PM system, including conducting quality audits of registration and pre-registration data.
  • Facilitate patient flow to optimize visits and reduce wait times during check-in and kiosk registration.
  • Assist with addressing and resolving patient complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to support maintenance and housekeeping services.
  • Assist with monitoring staff productivity and identifying additional training needs related to the EHR/PM system.
  • Assist with developing and implementing orientation processes for new staff and volunteers.
  • Support revenue cycle functions by ensuring accurate registration, insurance verification, claims information, appointment scheduling, and patient intake documentation.
  • Identify operational issues and collaborate with the Health Center Director to address concerns through regular staff meetings.
  • Participate in operational meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the Health Center Director, Medical Directors, and Nurse Managers on quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a positive, professional atmosphere and a strong culture of customer service throughout Unity Health Care.
  • Promote occupational health and safety practices.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
  • Represent Unity Health Care at meetings, seminars, and other functions as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field OR equivalent experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Two years of supervisory experience, preferably in an office practice, OR equivalent experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Do you have experience working with underserved or other special-needs populations?
  • Do you have experience working in a nonprofit primary care or ambulatory health center, or an equivalent setting?
  • Do you have demonstrated experience exercising sound judgment when working with diverse populations?
