Job description

Assistant Controller
We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our Target Rock team!
The Assistant Controller is a strategic business partner to the Business Unit Controller and cross functional leadership team. You will analyze all aspects of financial operations including manufacturing and cost performance, cash flow, deviations in operating results from prior year and plan, and help formulate insightful financial analysis. You will partner with key business partners to drive the financial planning process and "get underneath" the numbers to identify trends and drivers. You will be a key partner with the Business Unit Controller in maintaining the company's financial, management and compliance reporting functions.
Location: East Farmingdale, NY
Salary/hourly rate: $120,000 to $155,000

Your Challenge
  • Ensures accuracy and timely reporting of actual results as well financial planning and analysis activities in support of global financial processes. Ensures compliance with GAAP and other regulatory or governmental requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as well as corporate policies and procedures. (20%)
  • Leads the close process and the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to guide the financial management of the business unit. (20%)
  • Identifies and evaluates fundamental issues, providing direction for major functional areas. Requires strong knowledge of the accounting function and familiarity with business strategies and company goals. Stays attuned to early warnings of financial problems and be able to provide suggestions on decisive action to resolve or address these problems. (15%)
  • Assists with developing objectives, strategies and tactics from an accounting and financial perspective. Measures performance against company goals, reveals obstacles to growth and implements strategies for improvements. (15%)
  • Coordinates the preparation of annual and quarterly budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to guide the financial management of the business unit(s). (15%)
  • Reviews proposals and appropriation requests, analyze ledger and module transactions, prepare special reports, handle routine and special projects, manage elements of A/R and A/P transactional flow, active participation in strategic planning process, support shared services groups, assist with payroll processing. (15%)

What You Bring
  • Knowledge of GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, Auditing, IFRS, FAR, and CAS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (MBA or CPA is a plus)
  • Five (5) plus years of related experience in financial management and accounting
  • Two years in manufacturing environment
  • Hands on experience working with long-term contract accounting including (EAC, POC, ETC)
  • Experience with government accounting is an asset
  • Excellent personal computer skills with knowledge in spreadsheet design inclusive of advance formulas, database, and Power Point.
  • Must possess the mental capacity to comprehend information provided daily and make own decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to explain financial terms in simple language.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD Security clearance
