DVP, BU Controller

Location: Dronfield Derbyshire, DBY, GB, S18 1DJ Business Unit: Process, Measurement & Inspection

The Divisional Vice President/Business Unit Controller is responsible for planning, coordinating and administering the business unit's (BU) financial accounting activities to meet the business' annual budget and strategic plan. In addition, this position is responsible for managing the financial accounting, planning, forecasting, and analysis with regard to sales target revenue, inventory, working capital and profit margins, Undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, statutory and financial reporting, tax reporting and filing, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

We are open to this person working in the following locations: Dronfield UK, Newark, DE and Streetsboro, OH.

How you will make an impact:

  • Take on business partner role - ability to be a sounding voice and part of the solution for business challenges.
  • Hands-on leadership to dive deep and work within teams, develop strategies and lead from a higher level.
  • Drives year-over-year improvements with working capital, sales, operating profit and overall performance.
  • Responsible for maintenance of effective internal control of all BU operations to ensure continued control and protection of its assets and an accurate reporting of its financial position.
  • Assist, as needed, with financial due diligence of BU and division efforts, including acquisitions and ERP implementations.
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
  • Handles all BU compliance issues, such as public-company and government audits, provides guidance on rules and regulations, and collaborates within the BU to drive sustainable full compliance.
  • Establishes and monitors BU accounting policies, programs and methods applicable to cost and inventory accounting and ensure proper standard costs and inventory systems are maintained by plant accounting personnel.
  • Effectively and proactively collaborate with various departments to help drive business performance, financial acumen and accountability in leadership and staff.
  • Effectively communicate with leadership to provide a transparent perspective on financial performance while providing solution as necessary.
  • In addition, expected presentations to senior management and CEO 2-3x/year. Management of financial team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work and appraising performance.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, Master's degree preferred; minimum ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Manufacturing background paired with a thorough accounting thought process a must. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Demonstrated excellence with standard cost and cost accounting models a must. Also, must be able to translate financial understanding into improvement actions and focus areas, and clearly communicate to multiple levels within the organization. Must be experienced in strategy reviews and being part of teams to develop strategic plans. Excellent interpersonal skills. Latitude in modifying practices and procedures. Strong PC and business systems knowledge. Excellent working knowledge of accounting principles. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally. Demonstrated strong work ethic, high level or urgency, and unquestionable integrity. Executive presence with exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Effective communication skills tailored to different audiences. Must have excellent presentation skills. Must be a demonstrated change agent, comfortable with continuous improvement and stretch concepts. Must understand facilitation for improvements to drive teams; able to improve organizational skill level and capabilities. High motivation to achieve personal, team and business goals.
