We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide financial leadership for a large, multi-location franchise organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Long-term Contract position will oversee core accounting activities, deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, and support leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis across a high-volume operating environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, sound business judgment, and the ability to manage complex financial data across numerous locations.
Responsibilities:
• Guide the full accounting cycle for a multi-unit franchise business, ensuring reliable financial records and consistent reporting across all locations.
• Supervise day-to-day finance functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger activity, and month-end close procedures.
• Lead and develop a small accounting team while strengthening internal controls and promoting accuracy, timeliness, and accountability.
• Prepare and present consolidated financial statements, budget updates, and cash flow projections to senior leadership for decision-making purposes.
• Partner with executives on annual planning, operational budgeting, and ongoing improvements to financial processes and reporting practices.
• Review business performance by analyzing financial results, identifying variances, and clearly explaining trends and key drivers.
• Coordinate sales reporting requirements for the franchisor and ensure submissions are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule.
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and tax advisors, supporting compliance and year-round financial governance.• 5+ years of experience in controllership, accounting leadership, or a similar senior finance role.
• Strong background in month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
• Proven ability to analyze variances, explain financial results, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Experience building or managing annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning processes.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial controls within a multi-location environment.
• Demonstrated success leading accounting staff and maintaining high standards for accuracy and compliance.
• Ability to manage large volumes of financial information across numerous operating locations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
