Job Description

Position Purpose: 

The Maintenance Manager will develop work plans and manage maintenance projects/records as well as spend time out in the areas of plant operations to study systems and equipment and develop work plans. The Maintenance Manager will direct the plant maintenance personnel and participate directly in maintenance work execution work plans.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain schedule to meet routine maintenance needs.
  • Prepare detailed work plans for each scheduled work task.
  • Coordinate labor, parts, materials, tools / equipment and access to the equipment.
  • Maintain a well organized parts and equipment inventory and storage.
  • Schedule and allocate labor to ensure work tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Document and track each work task to ensure efficiency, communicate any major variances.
  • Develop and create SOP’s for routine and non-routine maintenance tasks and up-load into maintenance system (VAMS) as needed.
  • Perform work tasks and duties in a cost effective manner and communicate budget.
  • Ensure all applicable safety and environmental regulations are followed during the performance of all job tasks.
  • Identify, schedule and provide any OEM/equipment training needs.
  • Work with department management to schedule any routine maintenance if shutdown/downtime/availability is needed during normal production hours as needed.
  • Track asset availability including uptime, and downtime with downtime cause.
  • Perform equipment failure analysis and document findings, lead RCAs as needed.
  • Identify additional equipment / tools necessary to improve uptime.
  • Identify and maintain spare parts/equipment inventory requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise contracted job activities as needed.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Actively participate in weekly Operations & Management meetings.
  • Provide weekly reports to General Manager:
    • Uptime/availability report
    • Completed weekly work plan tasks
    • Upcoming weekly work plan tasks
    • Parts / equipment inventory needs
    • Major upcoming maintenance items (contracted work, shutdown maintenance needs, labor needs, equipment failures, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Work Environment:

  • The job holder spends most of their time in an industrial environment to the repair and maintenance of equipment. The position requires frequent exposure and sustained to noise and dirt.
  • The job holder is required to work in an environment where there will be temperature’s changes (hot / cold).
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 4 years of experience supervising a in plant, building, or large facility as a Maintenance Manager or Senior Planner/Scheduler.
  • 2 years of experience leading or supervising a small team of technicians.
  • Demonstrated experience with instrumentation + control systems for Plant Operations.
  • Experience in a plant, building, or facility maintenance background.
  • Supervisory experience is a must.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, be detail oriented in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Requires excellent time management, organization and prioritization capability and excellent communication and organizational skills.
