Job description

Description
The primary functions of the Payroll Associate is all in-house payroll functions and ensure adherence to payroll regulatory requirements.  We are seeking a self-starting team member in the finance department with a willingness to learn and grow within the company.   The position is in person in our new corporate headquarters in Duncan, SC.  Collaboration throughout all levels on the company and analytical thinking are keys to success.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, grasp, reach with hands and arms, see, speak, and hear. Frequently stand and walk. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or bend. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Most work is performed in office environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uploads and processes in-house multistate payroll to ensure the accurate and timely completion. Payroll includes hourly, salary, and union employees. Must be able to allocate employee time and equipment hours to corresponding job site.
  • Verify that required and voluntary (taxable or non-taxable) deductions and liabilities are calculated and processed appropriately.
  • Maintain system data through checks and balances and troubleshoot/correct errors discovered.
  • Analytically and critically evaluate data and information for reasonableness and accuracy. Investigate unusual findings.
  • Maintain backup and audit trail for all payments and filings.
  • Complete certified payroll reports as required to comply with Davis Bacon guidelines.
  • Support Payroll Manager with payroll balancing, tax payments, and payroll tax filings.
  • Identify and correct errors discovered during the reconciliation process.
  • Collaborate with payroll team, HR, Accounts Payable, IT, and other departments to ensure the interdependent functions are communicating and functioning effectively to improve processes, reporting, and audits.
  • Serve as an employee contact and assist them with concerns and/or questions regarding their payroll.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 2-year degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
