Job description


Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Physician Relations Associate for our Business Development division. This position will be primarily a work from home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite as needed. You may be based outside of the greater Chicagoland area.
This role will lead community outreach efforts, collaborate with leaders and physicians across the service lines in establishing strategic initiatives and growth plans, and support in identifying strategic opportunities for UChicago Medicine. The Physician Relations Associate will serve as a liaison between the health system, community providers and faculty physicians within the UChicago Medicine primary and secondary service areas. This is a highly visible and key position within the UChicago Medicine organization.
Essential Job Functions
  • Builds relationships through outreach visits to referring and potentially referring physicians (and key office staff) in greater Chicago and surrounding areas. Promotes UCM services, programs and physicians to health care providers, identifying strategic opportunities for advancing UCM offsite affiliations, implementing strategies to enhance communications with physicians and other health care providers, conducting service line marketing assessments, analyzing physician and hospital needs, and participation in clinical strategic planning team strategic service line plans. Collect and analyze data including physician activity, satisfaction and health care trends to assist in the development of physician outreach strategies. Develop and execute on specific outreach, relationship building and educational plan targeted to community physicians.
  • Maintains current electronic records on referring physician encounters, needs, issues and their resolution. Provides timely feedback to UCM administrators on perceptions and challenges from the referring community and participates in process improvement activities. Collects and communicates specific information on internal process improvement opportunities and service expectations with a goal of earning new business, retaining current business and keeping referring physicians satisfied and engaged.
  • Identifies opportunities for CME programs and/or Networking events with UCM physicians and referring physicians and coordinates such events
  • Performs other duties assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business, health care, marketing or communications required.
  • A minimum of five years experience in physician relations, practice management or medical sales required.
  • Work record that demonstrates superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills is required; work record that demonstrates superior customer service skills; excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Position requires a moderate deal of local travel in greater Chicago.

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
